Times of change

Hey everyone 🌻,

Here is Ana, it's been a long time since I don't share the news of Vitality, Bergolo and my journey through this blog.

For those who are hearing from me for the first time, I'm actually a Portuguese from Portugal long-term volunteer who arrived in Bergolo 11 months ago. My journey is slowly coming to an end, missing only less than 2 months before my departure. I know I will leave with a smile on my face and a hurt but full heart. But now is not the time to say my goodbyes yet.

After the busy months of last summer, I had the chance to coordinate a project in Spain in November, a team volunteering project, that happened in a small village called Terque. We gathered 19 smart young people and we all gave our best to contribute to the development of the village and the restoration of a building belonging to the organization Classijazz, for 29 days. It was one of the biggest challenges I faced during my ESC volunteering, and I couldn't be more proud of myself and thankful for the opportunity. You only realise how much you've grown until you get back to the roots.

Soon Christmas came and some deserved vacations fell upon me (what a beautiful disaster 🤭).

After two months away from Bergolo (a missed snowstorm and short-term volunteers that passed by), I came back at the beginning of January, with our hostel where we accommodate participants being renovated and more long-term volunteers around.

It's winter and yes, it's cold (today it started to snow again!), but in Vagamondo it doesn't feel like winter, I would say it's constantly spring, you can see things changing after just a few weeks, people arriving one after the other, future projects being planned and volunteers completely clueless about them hahah (I feel like a teacher among pupils 😏).

A new era is coming and while I feel the excitement of the change in the air, the nostalgia of realising this way of life is coming to an end and I won't be able to witness the future changes, I also feel that it's time for my spot to be taken by a new person. I had an opportunity and so does someone else who deserves to have one, someone who is excited to meet the Erasmus world, open-minded to accept challenges and to get out of their comfort zone and, most importantly, who is humble and open-hearted to meet new people and co-live with other youngsters from different cultures.

Motivation and willingness is all it takes 💕

Us meeting a previous long-term volunteer in Torino!

Talk soon for another update from my side!

Take care,

Ana 🌻
